Next to Ponte-do-Porto is the small parish of Cereixo, known by its two important architectural monuments:

The XII century church has got the typical Galician rural architecture with some interestic Celtic crosses. The south door contains the world´s first sculpture representing Saint James´ travel by boat, Celtic cultures´s topic probably inspired in the Arthuric myth.

Cereixo´s castle was owned by the Maceda clan, and it has got one of the longest stone barns in Galicia, 30 m. long.

Typical rural architecture

Long time ago, ships entered the creek up to Ponte-do-Porto´s harbour, where nowadays there are only some small boats.

Creek and river gently fuse their waters in a nice and calm site chosen by many fishermen to practice their favourite sport: there is a footpath of several kilometres along the river Grande with old water mills converted in charming lunchrooms.

Ponte-do-Porto´s strategic location is ideal for excursions to the main tourist centers of Camelle, Camarinas, Vimianzo, Traba, Laxe, Muxia... It is recommended as well to go shopping in Ponte-do-Porto´s famous fair, organized every month´s second and last Sunday.
