Formed
in the year 1986, Nowadays the dance school has about a hundred girls
and boys from the Municipal of Zas. Their objective is to recollect
the areas music and clothes tradition. They have obtained important
awards from various contests and competitions. They have also performed
throughout Galicia, Spain and Portugal.
Founded
in the year 1995 and composed of about 35 people from the ages of 15 and
31. Since its set up it has dedicated itself to the investigation
and collection of the indigenous Bergantiños music. It consists
of recollecting the traditional set-up and reconstruction of suits, music
and the areas dance. Throughout its history this group has achieved
various prizes organized within the region.
Its aim is the investigation of folk, recollecting traditional dances
and songs from all over the municipal of Zas. They have performed
in various contests and festivals in Galicia, Spain and Portugal.
Some of its members have worked with the Fia na roca Group, which performed
- Cantar da Sara - in the Carreira municipal..
The
Navegante group was formed in the year 1993 by José Barros, a musician
who performed with the Bago de Milho, Romancas o a Ronda dos Quatro Caminhos
groups. They have produced two records: Navegante (1994) and Cantigas
Partindonse (1998), and are now preparing a new record which will probably
be released next year (Romances, ou historias a cantar) Its actual
members are Jose Barros (vocals, bragesa, cavaquinho, bandolim), Carlos
Passos (violinist) Vasco Sousa (bass, double bassist) Jorge Cruz,
(accordion, piano), Elias Goncalves (drums), Pedro D'Orey (vocals cellist,
guitarist) and Rui Junior (percussion). 
With
this years second CD edition, sunny spells and Scattered showers,
the Irish - American quintet SOLAS, won the NAIRD prize in 1996
for best celtic album in the British Isles. Some of its members
used to play with important groups such as Cherish the ladies, The
Sharon Shannon Band, the chanting House and Green fields of America.
The bands members are Seamus Egan (flute, banjo, low and tin whistle,
guitars, bodhran and percussions) Kanren Casey (vocals), winifred
Horan (violin), John Doyle (guitars, mandocello, vocals) and john
willians (acordeonz and concertina).
His
professional career began in the early 80s at the pipe school of
"Semente Nova" in Moaña. In 1987 he became part of
the "obradoiro de instrumentos populares" from the popular University
of Vigo, directed by Antón Corral, who also participated
in the "Xarabal band". In 1991 he founded the "Fol de Niv"
group and after leaving colaborated with the bands Altan, Capercaillie,
Oskorri,.... and artists such as kepa junkera and Uxia.
In 1996 he became solo, leading his proper band, which produced
its first album "Paralaia" in 1997. On stage he will
be accompanied by Leandro Deltell (Drums, percussions) Xan Hernandez
(bass) Pedro Pascual (bouzouki, concertina) and Xavier Diaz (acordeon).
A
band which was set up in the year 1995 from the Ortegal cliffs.
From a small band they came in contact with tunes from other countries
and cultures in the "Mundo Celta international Festival" The
group members have received training in traditional music at the
"Gaita de Ortigueira school", which also has schools in Santiago,
Ferrol and Viveiro. This year they have produced their first
CD "En Augas de Ortigueira" which will be presented in Zas.
If is formed by Rodrigo Lopez (pipe, flutel), Urbano Salgado (pipe),
Jaime Garcia (flute), Elixio Cesar (guitar) Marina Alonso (percussion)
Fredi Loureiro (bass drum) and J.M Marias (bass).
