Pottery of Buno
Buno's pottery represents European functionality
together with the galician touch for fine arts. It is the result of a tradition
which goes back to Neolithic times: first craftworks in this area were
made 6000 years ago. Traditionally, Buno's pottery is made for solving
problems: keeping water fresher, cooking, making spirits, drinking water
in a healthier way , etc.
This
century has seen a new way of understanding pottery. Younger potters,
especially women, do not doubt to mix ancient Galician shapes with tribal
native-american and african ones. African shapes were seen by Bunos potters
in countries like Cuba and Brasil. South-America in general has had the
presence of Bunos' potters working from Mexico to Argentina.
Northern african culture has always been known
in South Europe. Asiatic ceramics have arrived to Galicia coming from Portugal
and Spanish influence areas such as Macau or Filipinas. This new kind of
pottery is one of the most "universal" and "cultural-mixed" ceramics
ever made in the planet.
Buno's
ceramic web presents all these ways of understanding what's going on
with one of the most active ceramic villages in the world. The web has
promotional purposes only. A restricted
area has been created for re-sellers and art galleries with some of
the best work. An especial catalogue is available
on-request for wholesalers interested in functional pottery.
